Terms of use

Rhoe is a media player. These terms cover what that means, what we are responsible for, and what you are.

1. Accepting these terms

By installing or using Rhoe you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. If you are using Rhoe for an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms on its behalf.

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live to hold a Rhoe account.

2. What Rhoe is

Rhoe is client software that plays media from a source you configure. It is provider-neutral: no provider, portal, playlist, channel list or catalogue is included in the app or supplied by us.

We do not, at any point:

  • host, transmit, cache, proxy or re-broadcast any media stream;
  • sell, resell, bundle or arrange any IPTV subscription;
  • supply, publish or curate channel lists, playlists or catalogues;
  • index or help you search for streams you do not already have.

Everything you watch in Rhoe comes from an address you entered, from a service you obtained yourself.

3. Your content and your rights to it

This is the part that matters

You are solely responsible for having the legal right to access everything you connect to Rhoe and everything you play through it. Using Rhoe with a source you are not authorised to use — an unlicensed service, a shared or resold account you have no right to, or a stream that infringes someone's copyright — breaks these terms.

We do not verify, endorse or monitor what any source contains, and we have no ability to. If a rights holder contacts us about a stream, we can only point them at the provider serving it, because we are not in that path.

4. Your Rhoe account

An account is optional and only synchronises your own settings, favourites, watch progress and saved connection list between your devices. Keep access to your email address secure, since sign-in codes are sent there. Tell us at support@rhoe.app if you think someone else is using your account.

You can delete your account at any time in the app or at rhoe.app/delete-account. Deleting a Rhoe account does not cancel any subscription with your IPTV provider.

5. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • use Rhoe to access, copy, record or redistribute content you have no right to;
  • use Rhoe to build, operate, advertise or support an unlicensed streaming service;
  • share or resell provider credentials, or use credentials that are not yours;
  • attempt to break, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the Rhoe backend, or bypass its rate limits;
  • remove or alter the app's branding and pass it off as your own product;
  • use Rhoe in any way that breaks the law where you are.

We may suspend or delete an account that does any of this.

6. Providers and third parties

Your relationship with your IPTV provider is entirely between you and them. That includes payment, entitlements, expiry, channel line-ups, stream quality, outages, geo-blocking, refunds and the handling of your personal data on their side. We are not a party to it, cannot intervene, and cannot get your money back.

Rhoe also relies on your operating system's media stack and network. We are not responsible for faults that originate there.

7. Price and payment

The Rhoe player is currently free to download and use, and we take no payment from you. If a paid tier is introduced later, it will be announced in the app and will not silently start charging for something you already have.

8. Availability and changes

Rhoe is provided as it is, and features can change, move or be removed between versions. The backend that syncs settings may be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control; the player keeps working locally when it is. Offline downloads are implemented in the codebase but switched off in public builds, and no build available to you offers them.

9. Intellectual property

The Rhoe app, its name, its logo, its design and its source code belong to us and are protected by copyright and trade-mark law. These terms give you a personal, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you control, and nothing more.

Any channel names, logos, artwork, films, series or programmes you see inside Rhoe come from your provider and belong to their respective owners. We claim no rights in them and grant you none.

10. No warranty

Rhoe is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that playback will be uninterrupted, that every stream format will work, or that the app is free of defects. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law allows.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, for lost profits, lost data or lost viewing time, or for any claim arising from content supplied by a provider you connected. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Rhoe in the twelve months before the claim, or ten US dollars.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights are unaffected.

12. Indemnity

You will indemnify us against claims, damages and reasonable costs arising from your use of Rhoe in breach of these terms, in particular any claim by a rights holder about content you connected or played.

13. Ending this agreement

You can stop at any time by deleting your account and uninstalling the app. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, or if we stop offering Rhoe. Sections 9 to 12 survive termination.

14. App store terms

If you installed Rhoe from Google Play or the App Store, that store's own terms also apply to the installation. Apple and Google are not parties to these terms, have no obligation to provide support for Rhoe, and are not responsible for any claim you have about the app. Apple is, however, entitled to enforce the terms of this section as a third-party beneficiary.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Rhoe's operator is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of that jurisdiction have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence or of your right to bring proceedings there.

Before starting formal proceedings, please write to us — nearly everything is a misconfiguration, and we would rather fix it.
